Creative & Cultural Skills has worked with partners from the industry to develop curriculum materials to support the off-the-job training offer for different apprenticeship standards. As qualifications no longer typically determine the training offer for many apprenticeships in England, we are keen to help training providers map the learning journey against the knowledge, skills and behaviours set out in each apprenticeship standard.

By doing this in partnership with industry we can help ensure that our curriculum materials respond to sector need and will aid the development and entry of new employees into the sector.

Some of the standards we've developed curriculum materials for are sector specific and some cover transferable occupations like administration.  In the latter instance we have contextualised the curriculum so it is relevant to those undertaking such training in creative and cultural environments.

Those who purchase our materials are free to edit them for the purposes of teaching and learning.  Where we've created workbooks for apprentices to use this is to help individuals track and reflect on their learning in real time.

Each set of curriculum materials is designed according to the focus of the apprenticeship standard and the level of difficulty it is set at. As a minimum these always include a comprehensive programme summary which turns the apprenticeship standard into modules of learning with associated learning outcomes, so if followed, each training provider will understand in more detail the knowledge, skills and behaviour requirements of employers in the sector.

We currently have curriculum materials in place for  the following:

  • Museum and Gallery Technician Apprenticeship
  • Departmental Manager
  • Cultural Learning and Participation Officer
  • Creative Venue Technician
  • Business (Arts) Administration
