National Occupational Standards
National Occupational Standards (NOS) describe what you need to know, do and understand to undertake a job to a nationally-recognised level of competence. Their uses include informing the writing and updating of qualifications, aiding performance management, with recruitment and selection, training-needs analysis and careers guidance. Qualifications developed as an outcome of our SQS will be informed by NOS.
Only Sector Skills Councils, working on behalf of the industries they represent, can produce NOS. The standards are written in conjunction with a wide variety of employers and employees who work in the industry.
To find out about and download the NOS that exist in the creative and cultural sectors; to see what NOS we are currently developing; to get involved in the development of NOS; or just to find out more about NOS, generally, please go to our microsite at www.ccskills-nos.org.uk
