Creativity & Culture in Schools

As part of the wider creative agenda all the industries express a concern for the development of creative skills and cultural understanding in schools and how the curriculum addresses this. This includes not only performance or art form skills and identifying talented young people, but increasingly the importance of developing ‘creative thinking’ skills and the link to entrepreneurial skills. The value placed on creativity and culture in schools, the quality of teaching, curriculum design and advice are seen as having a key impact on the quality of development of young people’s skills in relation to their Further Education and what industry is looking for at recruitment. The design industry in particular has identified this as an issue.
