What Creative & Cultural Skills represents

We represent creative writers (including writers, novelists, poets, playwrights, literary critics and translators), those who nurture and develop creative writers (such as literary agents), and the literature development sector.

The Literature Blueprint – a skills needs analysis for literature in the UK

Creative & Cultural Skills has developed a Literature Blueprint, a research document which analyses the skills needs of the literature sector across the UK and propose key actions in response.

It has been developed in consultation with individuals, employers and representative bodies from the literature sector. Many thanks indeed to all those organisations and individuals who contributed.

Our work with the sector

• We have developed careers advice specifically for the literature sector on our website Creative Choices°
• We offer employers in the literature sector the chance to take on an Apprentice in a wide range of areas, including Creative Apprenticeship pathways in Live Events and Community Arts, through our Apprenticeship Training Service
• Leadership development opportunities are on offer through the Cultural Leadership Programme, the Creative & Cultural Skills Scotland Leadership Programme and the Creative & Cultural Skills Northern Ireland Leadership Programme
• We produce research about the literature sector, including its size, its contribution to the economy, and demographic data
