Case Study: Foxy Demeanour
Foxy Demeanour (that's her real name) was keen to get a break in archaeology. When the Institute of Field Archeologists signed up to the Creative Apprenticeship, they saw her potential and offered her a placement at English Heritage in Fort Cumberland. She learnt how to x-ray and use a flotation tank, and importantly, how to deal with members of the public.
I had been volunteering and was keen to get a more secure job. This is something that's needed as it's really hard to access decent training opportunities. I would definitely recommend a placement like this to others wanting to get into professional archaeology.
