The Government announced that Creative & Cultural Skills was awarded a new licence in January 2010 to support the skills needs of the creative and cultural industries. This comes after a comprehensive relicensing process commissioned by the UK Commission for Employment and Skills, with independent assessments carried out by the National Audit Office across all Sector Skills Councils.
We were praised for our “strong partnership working” and “effective lobbying” on behalf of the sectors we represent. Our research was identified as a key area of strength, as were our projects, such as Creative Apprenticeships and Creative Choices°, which were singled out as “skills solutions which are clearly linked to employer’s needs”. Creative & Cultural Skills was also pinpointed for “leveraging investment in skills for the sector”.
Our performance to date
We assess our own performance quarterly with our self assessments being discussed with the Board of Trustees and UKCES to review progress.

Feedback from our employers and stakeholders
It is important to us that we genuinely represent the sectors we serve and give them the chance to feed back on our work to date. Step Ahead Research was commissioned by Creative & Cultural Skills to undertake an industry and stakeholder satisfaction survey in 2008.

As part of our continuous improvement plan we have reviewed the results with our Board of Trustees and are putting in place an action plan to drive up our performance, and respond to any specific feedback we received.
