Diploma in Humanities and Social Sciences – have your say

16 September 2008

Creative & Cultural Skills are calling on teachers, lecturers, employers and those with a special subject interest to give their input into the design and development of the new Diploma in Humanities and Social Sciences available from 2011.

Consultation events are being held at three locations across England:

  • Warwick University in Coventry on 23 September
  • Adelphi Hotel in Liverpool on 1 October
  • Royal Geographical Society (with the Institute of British Geographers) in London on 7 October.

A survey is also available online to fill out electronically.

Creative & Cultural Skills is delighted to oversee the design and development of the new Diploma in Humanities and Social Sciences. Creative & Cultural Skills’ experience of designing qualification frameworks in partnership with employers and education providers ensures they are well placed to develop this new qualification having also recently assisted in the development of the Creative and Media Diploma.  The new Diploma in Humanities and Social Sciences will be launched in September 2011 and is an industry and higher education endorsed qualification.

Sir Keith Ajegbo, chair of the Diploma in Humanities and Social Sciences Development Partnership said: “The Diploma in Humanities and Social Sciences will offer young people, at all ability levels, the opportunity to apply relevant learning and understanding to real situations in the complex world they live in.”

Tom Bewick, chief executive of Creative & Cultural Skills and a humanities and social science graduate said: “We are pleased to have the opportunity to ensure this Diploma, with a focus on applied learning, will offer an alternative to traditional approaches in subject areas in the Humanities and Social Sciences. This fits as part of Creative & Cultural Skills mission to turn creative and cultural talent into productive skills and jobs, and to ensure qualifications meet real employment needs.”
